Why transfer my apprenticeship levy funds?
Transferring levy funds is a way of supporting other organisations and sectors, and helps more people access professional training.
For example, you can support your current charity partners, or look to support charity partners who work in a certain area such as healthcare or in certain communities.
Which charities and apprenticeship programmes you support with your levy pledge is your choice. We are simply here to help.
Why transfer my apprenticeship levy funds?
Large employers that pay the apprenticeship levy can choose to transfer up to 50% of their levy funds each year to other businesses, to pay for their apprenticeship training and assessment.
Calculating how much levy you can pledge
Your transfer allowance is calculated as 50% of your previous financial year’s apprenticeship levy funds. The apprenticeship service calculates this amount as 50% of:
- The total amount of levy you declared in the previous tax year
- With the English percentage applied (the percentage of your employees that live in England)
- Plus the top-up payment of 10% from the government
You cannot transfer more than your 50% allowance in each financial year.
How do I choose a charity or sector to work with?
Corndel’s dedicated charity team will work with you to understand your Social Impact and CSR organisational values and help align charities to areas of work you have chosen to support. You can also support any existing charity partners, or charities in your local communities. The best levy gifts make the biggest impact to your organisation, and the charities you support.
How do we know you won’t connect us to just any charity?
Corndel will provide you with the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) IDs to connect with the charity’s DAS accounts, where funding will be drawn down from. Before any learners launch on programme, you will approve the cohorts and, therefore, know exactly how many learners and from which organisations you support. We believe in transparency and will always get approval before engaging charities in levy gifting conversations.
What happens if the learners we put on programme, need to stop or move organisation?
As much as possible, the Corndel coaches will work with learners to support them to stay on the programme; however, should a learner need to stop for any reason, Corndel will let you know, and the funding will stop for that learner. If a learner moves to a new organisation and would like to continue the programme, Corndel will be in touch to let you know about a new organisation, and you can decide if you are happy to continue the funding or not. We will not transfer a learner’s funding without speaking with you first.
Can we gift anonymously?
Through your DAS connection, the charities will be able to see who is gifting the apprenticeship levy to them. However, we can ask that the charities not share this information publicly. Corndel will not share your company name or logo on any of our marketing materials without permission.
How we will know how the learners we have funded are doing?
At the mid-point and end of the programme, Corndel will share cohort updates with you that will include the overall progress of learners, End Point Assessment completion and award rates, and anecdotal feedback learners have given us permission to share. All sensitive information will be removed from the update reports; however, you will be able to track the progress and impact your gifting is having.
